River Cruise and Barbeque, Friday 25th July, 2014

What a fantastic way to spend an evening … A Stour Valley River Cruise followed by a sumptuous barbeque prepared by
Tuckton Tea Gardens.

Following a rather heavy downpour at 5 pm, the sun put back on its hat, and we headed for the boats. What a great
way to spend an evening – sipping wine, taking in the great views of the Stour and creating our own sweet music along
the way … Well we tried anyway! Shame we couldn’t remember all the words!!

Thanks to Tuckton Tea Gardens for putting on a wonderful spread, and
Bournemouth Boating
for their skilful helming.

Hog Roast & Fun Day,  Sunday 11th August, 2013,
2013

Hog Roast & Fun Day, Sunday 11th August, was a great success with 80+ people attending for the fun filled “crazy bowls” afternoon.

Many thanks to Richard Free for his craftsmanship and course design.

John Field’s family attended the event and formally presented the John Field Memorial Trophy to the Men’s Captain following their close
victory over the Women’s team earlier in the season.

A big thank you to everyone who attended.

Presidents Day, Sunday 2nd June, 2013

Presidents Day, Sunday 2nd June, saw the President, Richard Free and his team take on the Vice-President,
Pauline West and her team. The bowls was closely fought with Pauline’s team beating Richard’s team by a
small margin.

Everyone enjoyed the sunny afternoon of bowls, pleasant company and lovely food, 56 bowlers and another
10 or so past presidents and members, along with social members.

Thank you all for making this day so special.

John Field Memorial Match held Sunday 12th May, 2013

It was in rather sombre weather that heralded Sunday’s John Field Shield game. John was a greatly respected Life Member of the club.

John’s family was well represented in placing a plaque beside the newly planted cherry tree dedicated to John’s happy times at Swanmore Gardens.

Mrs Chris Carter stepped onto the green to deliver the first jack for the ladies’ side. Six rinks of club members proceeded to enjoy the bowling in
a noisy ladies versus gentlemen format.

A buffet followed the game and our President, Richard Free, reminded us of the generous amount of work that John did for Swanmore Bowling Club and
thanked the family sincerely for its continuing support.

Already, we can look forward to Sunday, 22nd June 2014 when we plan to meet again to celebrate John’s life and allow the men’s side to defend the
Shield victory of 2013.
